When Is Autism Awareness Day?
World Autism Awareness Day is recognised on the 2nd of April 2024. In the UK, the National Autistic Society run their biggest campaign, World Autism Acceptance Week, between the 2nd of April and the 8th of April. Find out how you can get involved or donate here.
What Is Autism Awareness Day?
World Autism Awareness Day was established in 2007 and is all about raising awareness of the autism spectrum and ensuring the community are fully supported, respected and championed.
How Does Thames Rockets Help People with Autism Have the Best Experience Possible?
We understand that for people on the spectrum, trying something new in a busy location can be daunting, that’s why we always do our best to accommodate anyone and everyone who want to have a blast through London’s most iconic sights!
To plan your trip and ensure peace of mind, we have created a step-by-step subtitled video on everything to expect as yourarrive at the Thames Rockets boarding gate. We want you and your family to feel excited and stress-free before your adventure, so take a look below to prepare you for your experience.
Once you’re on board, our experienced, hilarious and entertaining guides will be with you every step of the way. Unlike other London tours, our guides are trained actors and have a high level of communication and sensitivity skills. What’s even better is that every experience has a maximum of twelve participants, so we can personalise our trips to whoever is on board, providing everyone with a memorable and comfortable tour.
We also understand that neurodivergent people may be more sensitive to noises and certain textures. The majority of our boats depart from the London Eye, which can be a very loud and busy place. Your ride can also be noisy as you’ll hear the sound of the engine as well as the wind, so you may feel more comfortable wearing ear defenders, please bring these with you if you require them. We are able to offer goggles on board to help shield your face from the wind.
If you have any questions or concerns before your trip you can chat to one of our team members, seven days a week, between 10am and 5pm. We’ll do everything we can to make your experience the best it could possibly be!
