Visit England Award Win

You may remember recently we mentioned we had been entered into a rather special celebration of England's best attractions (check out our blog here!). Well on Monday 24^th April 2017, it was time to get suited and booted and attend the Visit England Awards for Excellence. We were in the running for the €˜Family Friendly Attraction of the Year' award following a mystery shopper experiencing one of our trips at random. Excited, nervous, and more than a little in awe of the amazing Waldorf Hilton Hotel venue, we took our seats and strapped ourselves in (something we are very used to doing!).   24 categories, each with 3 shortlisted attractions were competing for the coveted trophies. Our category was 9^th up, so it was time to exercise patience as we clapped and cheered a host of attractions winning varied categories such as Afternoon Tea of the Year, Family Friendly Accommodation, Tourism Superstar and best Tourism Pub. Sue Perkins was on hand to host and present the awards, and after what seemed like a lifetime our category was announced.   One of the reasons we were so nervous was due to the competition. Beamish, The Living Museum of the North and Gallery Oldham both have fantastic reputations, and competition was fierce. We were on the edge of our seats until finally... We cannot express how honoured we are to win the award. The success of Thames Rockets comes down not only to the fleet of red speedboats, but to the team behind them. The guides, the skippers, the boarding team and the bookings administrators, each with their own drive and determination to make their part of the Thames Rockets experience the best it can be for each and every customer, each and every time.   More importantly, thanks to the thousands of customers, new and returning alike, who give us a reason to get up in the morning - to zoom around the Thames telling stories about the greatest city in the world.
