Can I bring luggage on-board?

Handbags, backpacks and rucksacks are all permitted on-board our speedboats. Suitcases or larger items can be left at the Left Luggage facility at Waterloo Station.

Where can I park?

There are three pay and display car parks near London Waterloo and The London Eye Pier. We would, however, advise checking ahead of time and (for a more relaxed experience) taking public transport into central London where possible. For more information click here.

Are you in the Congestion Charge Zone?

Lambeth and Waterloo are in the zone, the cost varies from £10.50 to £14.00 depending on when and how you pay these charges. For more information click here.

Are there public toilets?

From the London Eye Pier departure point the nearest toilets are located in County Hall, just a few minutes’ walk from our departure gate. From the St Katharine Pier departure point there are facilities in the nearby Starbucks and Tower Hotel.

Is there an age restriction?

Some of our river experiences have an age restriction, one being ‘Break the Barrier’ which is for passengers aged 10 years and up, this is simply due to the volume of speed (from start to finish) out on the water. The other being Thames Lates which has a minimum age of 18 due to the serving of alcohol on-board.

What time do I need to arrive?

You need to check-in 15 minutes prior to your departure time. All our sailings leave on time so as not to impact later departures or our passengers.

What happens if I am late?

Due to the nature of the business we cannot guarantee any relocations or amendments to bookings due to lateness. We operate a tight sailing schedule due to the popularity of our experiences and must adhere to strict check-in times. Unfortunately if you miss your booked experience those particular seats on-board are forfeited.

What if I have a pushchair or wheelchair?

Please advise us before your trip and we will ensure a member of the Thames Rockets team is on hand to look after your property whilst you are enjoying the trip.

Will I get seasick?

It is incredibly rare for anyone to feel seasick on Thames Rockets. Our speedboats sit low in the water and you won’t experience the same motion as you would on open water or at sea.

Confirmation on your mobile phone is sufficient, we’ll have your booking name on our trip report and will verbally check your booking code – so save that paper!

Absolutely! Simply book online or call our bookings hotline and we’ll do the rest!

Can children travel unsupervised?

Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 16 must have a minor disclaimer form filled out prior to the departure by a parent or guardian.

Tickets can be purchased on the day at the London Eye Pier ticket office, through our direct booking line or via our website www.thamesrockets.com. We do, however, recommend booking in advance especially during peak hours/holiday season to avoid disappointment.

We do require a minimum 48 hours to allow us to amend any bookings.

What if my voucher has expired?

As with any gift experience voucher, once past its expiration date the voucher is void and cannot be redeemed. Your Experience

Where do we need to go?

Please check your booking confirmation for full details of where to embark your Thames experience. Our two departure points are Boarding Gate One, The London Eye Pier and St Katharine Pier under Tower Bridge. If you have booked an amended departure you will find bespoke details on your charter confirmation.

What will I see?

Thames Rockets guarantee the best views of London’s most iconic sights along the river Thames. Depending on your booked experience and its route plan you will see between 10 and 30 iconic London landmarks. See our Locations page for more details.

I have a bad back. Can I sail?

We are not medical experts and would not recommend our experiences for anyone with a bad back. However, if you are confident you are fit for the trip we will simply ask you to fill out a short medical disclaimer before leaving our mooring.

I’m pregnant. Can I sail?

Unfortunately we do not allow mothers at any stage of pregnancy on board any of our experiences.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself and any guests coming with you! Your booking with us will be on our crew’s trip report, so simply check-in with the lead name and have a note of your booking code to hand, this can be found on your email confirmation. We always recommend dressing for London weather and wearing comfortable shoes, with hats, gloves and scarves are recommended in the winter season.

Will I get wet on-board?

Thames Rockets do not operate a ‘get wet’ water experience, however, in windy conditions it is possible for spray to blow across the decks and if it rains the boat is open to the elements. We provide full waterproofs and (weather permitting!) all our passengers leave us as dry as they arrived.

What happens if it rains?

We’re a hardy bunch at Thames Rockets and sail whatever the weather. Full waterproof clothing including goggles are available for the most adventurous of outings!

Can my trip be cancelled?

Only in the event of poor visibility (thick fog for example) may a trip be cancelled at very short notice. Very rarely when a vessel has not reached its minimum sailing capacity we will contact you the day before to amend your tour time to the nearest available slot.

Can I take pictures, bring a GoPro and film on-board?

100% yes, take pictures, speedboat selfies and shoot a video of London! We love our passengers capturing memories of your time with us as long as it doesn’t impact on other guests on-board.

Do I need to wear a lifejacket?

It is mandatory for all passengers to wear one of our industry standard lifejackets. They are very comfortable, adjustable with sizes up to a 54 inch chest.

What if I am unwell?

If you are feeling unwell on the boat let our helpful crew know and they will do their best to look after you and get you swiftly back to dry land. If you are feeling unwell prior to your departure you may pass your ticket on to someone else to take your place.

Do I have the speedboat exclusively?

If you have booked a private charter the whole boat is yours to fill as you wish. If you have booked onto a public sailing you will be joined by other groups and individuals on your trip.

Where can I sit?

We operate non-allocated seating on a first come, first-gets-to-pick-their-seats policy. We will also endeavour to ensure groups sit with each other. If you have specific seats you wish to sit in we recommend checking in at least 20 minutes prior to your departure time to ensure you group is called forward first.

Is there a dress code?

Absolutely not! We recommend comfortable clothes in line with London’s weather conditions. Don’t forget we offer warm waterproof coats and trousers too, so you don’t have to bring your whole wardrobe to London! In colder climates please bring gloves, scarves and hats, especially for children and elderly members of your party.
