5 Famous Boats You Need to Visit

Published by Thames Rockets 3675 days ago

It's no secret that we're passionate about our boats here at London RIB Voyages, but some of the capital's fine vessels get even more attention than our fine speedboats! Unthinkable we know, yet strangely true. We've been out and about exploring the capital's best boats to bring you the low down on the five you need to visit.

1. HMS Belfast, London Bridge

It's located right in the heart of the capital, and is probably London's most famous ship, but many people don't know the history behind this gargantuan vessel. Thankfully the Belfast is here to educate us all; the WWII ship offers plenty of nautical ent  ertainment and tours - get exploring.

2. The Golden Hinde, Southwark

Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the entire world in a ship just like this one during the 16th Century, but that fine boat sadly perished over 300 years ago. Since then a replica has been constructed, which now takes pride of place in St Mary Overy Dock. Perfect for wannabe buccaneers.

3. Cutty Sark, Greenwich

Like a beautiful phoenix, the Cutty Sark has risen from the ashes of a fire which almost destroyed her in 2007. Following a major restoration project, the vessel is now ship-shape and open for tours and events. A mandatory trip for all those visiting Greenwich!

4. PS Tattershall Castle, Embankment

Of course we couldn't give you a list of places to visit without providing one where you yourself could refuel, so we think it's absolutely necessary that you pay a trip to the giant paddle steamer that is PS Tattershall Castle for a pint and a bit of pub grub before you continue this nautical day.

5. The Entire London RIB Voyages Fleet, London Eye Millennium Pier & St Katherine's Pier

No list of famous London boats would be complete without a cameo from our dazzling red speedboats now, would it? Catch them zooming along the Thames exciting brave travellers throughout the week, or climb aboard at sunset for some truly sensational views. Feeling courageous? Choose our Break the Barrier boats - they're the fastest!
